When you first start looking for a photographer for your wedding, you might be surprised that an engagement session is often part of the package they offer, or is a popular add-on.  If you are tempted to opt out of having an engagement shoot, here are some reasons why you may want to reconsider.

Get to know your photographer

If you haven’t met your photographer or worked with them yet, now is your chance.  Your photographer will be with you every step of your wedding day.  You will want to make sure you get along and feel comfortable with each other.

Document you as a couple

Your wedding day is special, but it’s not your typical day.  You will love having photos of the two of you together, dressed in your own clothes and being your authentic selves.

You will use the photos

Your engagement photos can be used for your save-the-dates, invitations, and for pre-wedding gatherings.  They are also great to have printed and displayed at your wedding!

Get used to being in front of the camera

Having your photo taken can be nerve-wrecking and can feel awkward at first!  Your engagement session will get you more comfortable in front of the camera together so that your special day feels easier.

Choose your favourite location, bring your beloved pet, and make a day of it!  You might be surprised at how much you laugh and enjoy the outing with your partner.
