Your choice of venue sets the tone for your entire wedding. This may seem like a strong statement but it is true! It is important that you make this choice carefully and with intention. Here are some things to consider before booking your venues.
Before choosing your venue location(s), it is best to get a sense of the design direction and overall aesthetic that you desire for your day. Gather images that appeal to you, and nail down an overall ‘vibe’. Ensuring the look and feel of your venue aligns with your design direction is key to achieving the look.

There are lots of venue types to choose from, including restaurants, hotels, wineries, private estates, golf clubs.. the list goes on. While you may be tempted to go with the venue that seems most cost effective, or that your sister or cousin got married at, take the time to do a thorough search. You might be surprised to find that the venue you like the most does fit into your budget. Keep in mind that choosing a venue based on budget often requires adding more decoration to cover things you don’t like. You and your guests will notice the difference.
Make a quick list of the people you intend to invite to your wedding, and ensure that the key people in your life will be able to attend the venue location. Consider accommodations and transportation options.
Do you plan to have your ceremony at the same location as your reception? Do you plan to get married elsewhere? Adding multiple locations to your wedding day means that your timeline will be tighter, you will require more transportation, and potentially more florals and other decorative elements. Sometimes it makes sense to have multiple venue locations, but keep in mind that there are drawbacks to consider.
Ensure that the space is suitable for your guest count, that there is parking, that guests with accessibility needs are able to fully enjoy the day with you. For outdoor venues, make sure that there is a plan for inclement weather that you will be happy with.
